Supported Independent Living (SIL) in Melbourne

I was feeling lost and overwhelmed as my son Abdullah was becoming a grown man and he wanted to do things more independently, and since his condition was worsening over time.. he started to become withdrawn socially. As a mother you always want to give your child everything. In Abdullah’s situation, it was not an option for him to be out on his own due to his disability. Abdullah enjoys long drives, music and cool cars. I really wanted to give Abdullah the independence and at the same time I also wanted him to be safe. I had heard about Harmony House and that they were great. I was hesitant to get in contact with them because Abdullah did not like the idea of having a carer. I booked an appointment for me and Abdullah with Harmony House. Surprisingly, Abdullah became engaged in the conversation and expressed that he was happy to start and give it a try. The first day Abdullah had come back from his first outing I don’t forget the smile on his face. He was so relaxed refreshed and started to share all the things he did that day with myself and his dad. The carers at Harmony House are young, understanding, caring, compassionate and “cool”. Abdullah has built a great friendship bond with the boys at Harmony House. Thank you for all that you for Abdullah and our family. We really appreciate it.

We want to thank Harmony House for all the work they have done with my son Samir. Harmony House has changed our family’s life forever. I never thought that my son Samir would change. My son now is well more manageable in public surroundings and sleeps better at night! Harmony House helped improve Samir’s daily living and wellbeing. Harmony House took Samir to all his appointments to his specialist and always reminded us of tasks that needed to be done to help Samir. I once upon time, I wanted to give up Samir. I wasn’t the best parent. I wasn’t coping well at all. I had no one that cared for my family. But when Harmony House stepped in and came to our rescue, things got a lot easier. I am doing a lot more with my other children and spending quality time with them because I know Samir is in good care with Harmony House. I have travelled, worked, hung out with friends, gone to the gym and have done things I’ve always wanted to do and still have Samir in my care and not miss out on life. Harmony House, you are angels sent to look after my boy! Thank you so much for all that you have done.

Prior to COVID last year, I was feeling let down by the support my son was receiving through his NDIS funding. Lockdown was tough and my son needed his therapy sessions, and they were not accessible through his provider. I saw a social media post about Harmony House and said, “Why not? Let’s give it a try.” And I have never looked back. Instantly Harmony House welcomed my son with open arms and were assisting us through a tough time, getting my son all the help he needs and continuously engaging with us. They’re not your average support – they genuinely care. They check on and go above and beyond to help. Thank you, Harmony House. My son is super lucky to be associated with an amazing, humble organisation like yours!

Working with a variety of clients, at Harmony House I was given the opportunity to work with younger children. The company supplied me with sensory games and tasks to work with my clients. My queries are always dealt with in a professional manner. I enjoy dealing with the Harmony House team. The team are a dedicated and caring and I would highly recommend Harmony House to take care and manage your NDIS plan. I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

We have been with Harmony House just under 6mths now, my son had bit of hard time to start with getting his head around this all, but now he has the most lovely support worker who goes above and beyond for him and was so patient when he wasn’t having the best of day.

Now he looks forward to seeing her every session and as a solo mother, I couldn’t ask for anything more.

His main goal in having a support worker was to give him support in building his social interaction and building his self confidence , and this is improving slowing but is looking up for my son and I am

So very proud how far he has come and is only looking upwards for him now and as a solo parent I am truly grateful for all the support Harmony House has given to my Son and our Family .

Joseph, who has been my direct contact, has helped me throughout the journey. He has given great advice and takes time to understand our family requirements to find the best suited support worker.

We currently have 4 regular support workers throughout the week and they all value the quality of care. They all have been amazing that we consider them as friends.

Ive said it once said it 100 times. Joseph and Harmony House staff are the most CARING people I’ve ever met. I’ve had Ujjwal so skilled & delightful he has now replaced the role of 3 staff ,has a heart so big when crying making plans for medical treatments so kindly handed me tissues , Kristy altering personal plans so she can so lovingly personally support me. A rare Gem .I have no idea how Joseph and the team with so many responsibilities, makes every staff member & participant feel like they are his number one priority. I’ve never met a better team in my life.
